Specifically vague, Owens Lake is an enigma. The stories Owens Lake tells and we inscribe on its surface never fully reconcile with one another. The multiplicitous narratives are not concerned with the writing of eachother, though somehow integral in the making of the place. These many histories and fictions entangle Owens Lake in a web of affiliations. It is irreducible in this complexity. It is a site of any and every possible story. Any recollection of expeditions to its vast nothingness will be received with mere platitudes from most. Queries by few. At most all that well emerge is more and more subjectivity; More and more alienation. And this is just fine.
